Carroll County VINELink Search Coverage
Tennessee VINE operates through VINELink. TDOC's launch notice describes custody-status changes and criminal-case information for people in TDOC custody, while many Tennessee county jails already used the VINE network. Carroll County supplies a strong local connection: its official Carroll County Circuit Court page links VINELink under “Notification for Offender Custody Status.”
Carroll County coverage still follows the participating agency record. A Carroll County booking and a TDOC felony record may be separate entries. Search each likely agency when the person's custody moved. A released or out-of-custody event means the reporting agency recorded a change. It does not prove charges were dismissed, supervision ended, or another custodian did not take the person.
VINELink does not cover the Federal Bureau of Prisons. A federal sentence belongs in the BOP Inmate Locator, while many federal pretrial cases follow the federal court and U.S. Marshals trail. Immigration custody uses the ICE locator. Those federal systems cannot be replaced by selecting Tennessee in VINELink.
- VINE
- The victim information and notification service that receives custody events from participating agencies.
- VINELink
- The web and account interface used to search records and register for available notices.
- Custody event
- An agency-fed change such as release, transfer, or another status update.
- Last updated
- The time attached to the displayed agency information, which may differ from the physical event time.
Carroll County Endorses VINELink Alerts
Carroll County has no verified official public release dashboard, current roster, 24-hour release view, or 72-hour release view. The official court page instead points to VINELink and public-record information. That local endorsement makes VINE a key alert channel, but it does not turn the service into a county release list.
The Carroll County Court page is also where separate General Sessions and Circuit criminal contacts appear. A court order can explain why release was authorized, while VINELink can report a custody event and the jail record can show physical timing. These records should be compared, not treated as duplicates.
For a Carroll County Jail case, the fastest direct check remains the jail information line at (731) 986-1905. Ask whether the person left physical custody, when that happened, why, and whether the destination was the community or another agency. If VINELink and the jail differ, preserve the alert time and use the jail's release sheet as the primary county event record.
Note: The absence of a Carroll County dashboard makes VINELink useful for notices, but a narrow Sheriff's record request supplies more durable proof.
Search One Carroll County VINELink Record
Begin with exact identity. Collect the full legal name, spelling variants, date of birth, approximate booking date, and offender ID when available. A name alone can return several records from different agencies or custody episodes.
- Open VINELink and choose Tennessee. Select the custody or offender search option presented on the current screen.
- Enter the person's full name or offender ID. Use the ID when known because it narrows the match more reliably than a common name.
- Review all candidates. Compare the agency, available age or birth information, offender ID, and custody details before opening a record.
- Open the individual record. Quote the displayed custody status, event or date, agency, and last-update language without adding a broader legal conclusion.
- If the record says released or out of custody, call the supplying agency. Ask whether it was community release or a transfer to another jail, TDOC, federal custody, or ICE.
When a Carroll County detainee also has a Tennessee felony sentence, search FOIL as well. A state-sentenced person may be housed in the county jail as TDOC backup, and the state record can persist after the local booking display is gone. FOIL is not a complete misdemeanor archive, while VINELink is not the legal custodian's certified record.
The complete Carroll County identity and custody-system decision path appears on the released-inmate search hub. Use it when the correct agency is uncertain.
Carroll County VINELink Search Screen
The successful manifest image below shows the public VINELink entry screen without exposing a real person's private subscriber information. For Carroll County, the interface can change, so the current labels and choices on the live service always control.

The image identifies the statewide service used for Carroll County custody searches and registration; a selected record must still be matched to the correct person and agency.
Carroll County VINELink Release Fields
Carroll County VINELink wording and available fields depend on the participating agency feed. Read the full record instead of treating a single status line as the entire custody history. Save the access time because the display may update after the event.
| Displayed Item | What It Can Establish | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Name or offender ID | Helps identify the agency record | Must be compared with demographics and agency |
| Agency | Shows which participating source supplied the entry | One person may have another record elsewhere |
| Custody status | Reports the source agency's current wording | Does not decide the criminal case or supervision status |
| Event or date | May identify a release, transfer, or custody change | Availability and label vary by record |
| Location | May identify the source facility or agency | Can lag a recent transfer |
| Last update | Shows when the displayed information was refreshed | Is not always the event time |
| Notification option | Allows registration for events the record supports | Methods depend on the live interface |
If a record says “out of custody,” do not restate it as “charges dismissed.” If it says “released,” ask whether the person entered the community or was handed to another custodian. A transfer ends custody at one agency while physical confinement continues elsewhere.
Register Carroll County VINELink Release Alerts
Carroll County registration begins only after the correct record has been matched. Available delivery methods can include phone, text, email, TTY, or an app or account option shown on the current interface. Notification registration is confidential and free to the user according to the Tennessee VINE materials.
- Open the matched record and choose “Get notified” or the registration control displayed on the live screen.
- Select an offered method, such as phone, text, email, TTY, or account notification. Do not assume every method appears for every record.
- Enter the destination carefully and review the service instructions. A wrong digit or address can prevent delivery.
- Complete the confirmation shown. Telephone registration may request a personal identification number used to acknowledge a call; digital methods may use a code or link.
- Save the registration confirmation and keep the contact information current. Register again if the agency creates a new custody record after a transfer.
Never publish a subscriber's PIN, phone number, email, or registration confirmation. Screenshots should stop before private information appears or redact it fully. The live Tennessee flow controls the exact PIN and confirmation wording because interfaces change.
TDOC's published Tennessee operator line is 888-868-4631. VINELink's general support number is 1-866-277-7477 and is described as available around the clock with multilingual help. Use the number displayed in the current Tennessee flow when the two channels differ.
Note: A saved registration confirms the alert request, not that an event will arrive before every direct agency update.
Interpret Carroll County VINELink Alerts
A Carroll County alert reports the event supplied by the participating agency. It can be a prompt to call, reconnect, or check the official custody trail. It does not adjudicate a charge, certify sentence completion, or guarantee that another hold is absent.
If VINE says released but Carroll County still says in custody, compare timestamps and make sure both records belong to the same booking. Feeds can lag. If Carroll County says the person left, ask whether the destination was another custodian and search for a second agency record. Preserve the alert and access time, then seek the release sheet when exact timing matters.
If a TDOC record shows parole, verify the location and update. A scheduled hearing or Board grant is weaker evidence than the final decision and custody event. Release-plan approval and pre-parole conditions may still intervene before departure.
Carroll County VINELink Search Limits
Carroll County VINELink results depend on participating agency data. New bookings, releases, and transfers can take time to appear. Some records may not remain visible for the same period, and a missing record does not establish that no booking occurred. Recheck spelling, aliases, birth information, agency, and date range.
VINELink is not legal proof and is not a complete federal locator; confirm every important event with the jail, TDOC, court, BOP, or ICE source that owns it.
The BOP locator covers federal sentences and generally includes online release records after 1982. Carroll County federal pretrial custody may instead be documented through the federal court and U.S. Marshals Service. ICE has a separate locator searched with A-number and country of birth or biographical details. A Carroll County handoff to either federal system is a transfer, not proof of community release.
The TBI Sex Offender Registry and Tennessee Drug Offender Registry are also not substitutes. Each applies only to a defined offense-based registration duty. A registry result may remain relevant after release, but it does not supply the Carroll County Jail release date.
Confirm Carroll County VINELink Results
For a recent Carroll County Jail episode, call (731) 986-1905. Ask whether the person remains physically present. If not, request the release date and time, release reason, and destination. When staff cannot give historical detail, address a narrow Tennessee Public Records Act request to the Sheriff's Department or county records custodian.
The Carroll County written request can identify the full name, date of birth, approximate booking period, and booking number. Ask for the booking and release times, release code with its legend, authorization, bond record, charges, case numbers, and receiving agency if transferred. A court judgment then provides the legal authority, while the jail record supplies the physical event.
For a Tennessee felony record, use TDOC FOIL and read status, location, sentence, parole, and release information together. Older material can be sought through TDOC's archived-record process. These sources give the alert its necessary context.
Note: When two official sources conflict, compare identity, agency scope, event time, and update time before asking the originating office to explain the disputed field.
